Kickin’ Glass Studios was born and raised out of Austin, Texas just like its creator Franki Roach. Once covid happened and we were all stuck at home I needed something to pour my time into. After about a year of just playing around with little projects here and there, I knew I was hooked on this crazy medium. Working with stained glass has taught me more patience than I expected, since this medium sometimes has a mind of its own. My favorite part about creating stained glass art is the final product. All the stages leading up to the final piece are mostly fun but once you're holding it in the light and are able to see all that hard work turn out in a wonderful piece of art. Its the chefs kiss! Oh, and those refractions...I could go on for hours!!
The inspiration behind my work comes from nature, animals and nostalgic pastimes. I consider my work to be more of a modern take on the traditional stained glass. Kickin’ Glass Studios mainly uses the Tiffany method of copper foil but occasionally will use lead came.
