What is the stained-glass process?
Modern stained glass pieces made with the Tiffany Method which includes each individual piece is hand cut to shape, then edges are ground down to fit perfectly. Once liked with copper foil solder is applied to adhear the pieces. After a good cleaning with steel wool, patina is then applied if chosen. Another good cleaning before the final polishing and voila, a beautiful handmade stained-glass piece.
How do I care for my stained-glass?
Minimal cleaning is recommended to get that shine! Wipe with soft, slightly damp cloth to clean (no chemicals). Allow piece to dry then add wax (any car wax if fine) to polish/buff.
A nail or hook over a window frame or a window latch works best. This allows the piece to have a sturdy place to hang from. I do not recommend suction cups to hang any piece from as the weight of the piece can cause the suction cups to detach.
Lead is used to solder and frame each piece of stained glass art. Use caution and wash hands thoroughly after handling. Lead is mostly harmful if consumed. Please keep out of reach of small children/pets. Please wash hands after handling as a good precaution.
